Napster???

What is napster? Is it free? Is it legal? What types of devices is it compatible with?

1) Napster is a music downloading service, just like itunes. It USED to be a P2P program, everything free, a long time ago, but Metallica didn't like having their music shared so they started the fire that ultimately took Napster down. It's now come back as a pay service, but I think you can listen to tracks for free. Yes, it is legal now.

2) Who knew a college kid would bring the end to the music industry as we all know it? LOL. Napster is the brainchild of Shawn Fanning. He created the P2P network or peer to peer network for others to share music, essentially his program was the link between your computer and mine if we wanted to trade copywritten music, games, movies. Napster used to be free but after many court battles over the music on site (especially bands like Metallica) the site was shut down and has been revamped as a legit pay site. So you can download Napster and use it, it's no longer illegal. Just know that you will have to pay. Since the "freebie" end of the napster, many other P2P sites have popped up including Kazaa and Limewire -- both are free and are not considered legal as far as downloading and trading copywritten material goes. Napster is compatible with most recent computers, laptop or desktops - Windows and Mac.
