Which credit repair company is the best?

To start off, I am definitely going to use one regardless of the fact I know I could do this myself. In my situation it will be much more efficient. And before anyone shouts out "Pay your bills," if you had gone through brain surgery such as myself you might understand how tough things can get. That being said, is there a kind person out there who has utilized a legit credit repair company that they would honestly recommend? The ones I'm thinking over at the moment are Lexington, Sky Blue, DSI and Source One Credit Repair. I'm open for other experiences however. Thanks so much!!

1) No one has "insider" knowledge to take accurate negative info off your credit files....so don't waste your money. There is, however, one trick that "may" help to remove negatives from your credit files. You don't have to pay anyone to do this. Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act you have the right to request written validation of negative entries on your credit files. Per this law they must validate the item(s) within 30 days or remove them from your credit file. Mail a letter via certified mail with return receipt to all three credit bureaus (Equifax, TransUnion & Experian). Include a photocopy of your driver's license and social security card...If you don't include these, they may write back requesting them, which would slow the process down by several weeks. For each negative item, write a separate letter and simply include the phrase: Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act, I am requesting written validation of this item. Do this one at a time for each negative entry....DO NOT request validation for all items at one time. There is NO guarantee that this will work....It may give some decent results. The worst that can happen is that all negative items come back verified.

2) Yourself. Get a book called credit repair for dummies from your bookstore - worth it's weight in gold. /

3) buildcredit.ifastnet.com - try this site. I use it to monitor my credit and also cleaned off some bad items from my credit report. You can apply for free initial plan and get your scores and reports for free.

4) American Credit is the best because they only charge a 1 time fee and they challenge every negative and inaccurate item with each letter series. Some companies pick and choose so they can milk the process out over more months to charge you more. Also, going through the website gets you a discount on their services. Good luck whatever you decide.
