How soon until we see Discount Health Insurance providers like we see with Car Insurance?

1) that's what i have now. mine is like no-fault car insurance. all premiums no coverage.

2) Yes. They could make it cheaper. But you have to DE-regulate and have competition. Opposite of what the curerent regime wants to do.

3) You won't see anything like a car insurance market w/ health insurance unless our Federal gov't enforces the rules written in the Constitution to allow such free market. Unfortunately they haven't had much incentive to enforce the rules for the last 200+ years... i don't see that changing anytime soon (might have something to do w/ campaign contributions by insurance companies).

4) Once we are able to purchase insurance across state lines. Here in California, the most populous state, we can only choose from 6 insurance companies, even though the country has over 1000. In addition, I'm forced to buy a comprehensive policy even though I'm young, in good health, and not taking any elective prescriptions. If it was up to me I would simply purchase a catastrophe-insurance and pay out of pocket for my yearly check-up. It would save me over $1000 every year.
